We went to Gassan Ski Resort. On the way home, we stopped in at Mori Mohachi Shoten, a 300-year-old hardware store in Tsuruoka, Yamagata, and bought some old-fashioned everyday items.

According to the store’s owner, the people who made them are getting rather old, so it’s becoming harder and harder to get good ones.

Using items that are made with such dedication provides a sense of spiritual enrichment.
